2018 (First) China Camping Pickup Truck Convention

Event Dates: September 4–6

Host City: Yinchuan, Ningxia, China

Location: Tengger Desert, Helan Mountains

Activities: Gobi crossing, rock music festival, camping at Helan Mountains/desert, desert surfing, tour of Sandao Lake, public welfare campaign promotion (city parade)

Registration Fee: 500 RMB/vehicle (includes souvenirs for two: hat, T-shirt, badge; dinner for two; and accident insurance)

Helan Mountains

Located at the border of Ningxia and Inner Mongolia, the Helan Mountains stand majestic, like a herd of galloping horses. As a crucial hub along the ancient Silk Road and a place where nomadic and agricultural civilizations met and merged, the Helan Mountains have from ancient times to the present drawn boundless exploration and development.

Hoog Road

As the world’s third-largest off-road mecca, the creation of Hoog Road showcases the perseverance and stubborn innovation of Chinese off-road enthusiasts. Today, off-road lovers from around the globe flock here to pay homage.

Chengqing Temple

Chengqing Temple is shrouded in mystery because the Sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, passed away here. Unless you experience it firsthand, it’s hard to believe this temple lies deep in the desert, which inevitably fills you with awe.

Tengger Desert

After passing the bleak yet magnificent Helan Mountains, you enter Inner Mongolia, arriving at the Alxa League, known as “China’s Secret Realm.” The sky here is exceptionally blue, the sand here is incredibly soft. Leaving the noisy city behind, driving through this vast landscape, it’s filled with tranquility and endless imagination. Along the way, towering giant windmills occasionally appear on both sides of the road, forming a perfect picture with the desert and Gobi.

Three Lakes

Hundreds of pristine lakes that have existed for tens of millions of years are scattered across the Tengger Desert. Among the more than 200 lakes in the Tengger Desert, Three Lakes is the most beautiful. With its crystal-clear waters resting quietly amidst the desert, rippling gently in the breeze, it’s a gift from heaven, and we must leave our own gift for her.
