Since the Dongcheng District of Beijing launched the landscape lighting improvement project along the East and North Second Ring Roads at the end of 2025,
this 8.5-kilometer “light and shadow corridor” stretching from the North Bridge of the Bell Tower to Dongbianmen Bridge has already shown initial results.
It is expected to be fully illuminated in the second half of this year.Dongcheng District Children’s Palace.Xinda Center.
Previously, the nightscape along the Second Ring Road from Gulou Bridge in the north to Beijing Station East Street in the south had prominent issues. The lighting on various buildings was scattered, with poor overall coherence, inconsistent styles and brightness, and a lack of coordination.
To address this, Dongcheng District implemented a nightscape enhancement project covering a total length of 8.5 kilometers, encompassing 41 building groups and 2 scenic nodes. As of now, 31 building groups and 2 scenic nodes have been completed.Hong Kong and Macau Center, Capital Land Tower, Fuhua Building.Zhonghui Plaza.
Next, the focus of the landscape lighting enhancement project along the East and North Second Ring Road in Dongcheng District
will shift to the East Second Ring Road area.
It will deeply embed the culture of the canal granaries around Chaoyangmen
using the “Warm Grains as Auspicious” lighting technique
to incorporate the texture of grains and warm light colors
into the lighting along the route.
Connecting with the North Second Ring Road,
this will create a nighttime landscape image that is “bustling yet not noisy, grand yet orderly,
warm and cohesive.”Aerospace Materials Building, No. 1012 Bai Lin Si West.
