📻 Monday to Friday | Tianjin Life Radio “City Memory” (FM91.1 AM1386)
Special invited experts in intangible cultural heritage studies, opening the cultural backpack of the Chinese people together
If intangible cultural heritage could speak, what would it say?
Maybe a thousand-year story, passed from the mouths of ancestors to your ears;
Maybe echoes of mountains and rivers, a chant, an old tune, hiding the breath of the earth;
Maybe an epic written by the body, stilt dancing, pole climbing to catch the moon, strength and beauty crossing time and space;
Maybe a tiny stage, a shadow puppet, a half-inch puppet, acting out all the joys and sorrows of life…
From folk literature to traditional medicine, from cross talk and opera to festive customs —
Those unexpected wonders in life, right here in Tianjin, right by your side.
Starting May 25 (Monday), “City Memory” joins hands with Tianjin Nankai District Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Nankai District Folk Artists Association
To co-create the special feature “The Incredible Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage”
Ten themes, ten keys, unlocking the auditory codes, body philosophy, creative wisdom, and poetry of daily rituals within intangible cultural heritage.

🎬 Hear the Millennia of Fireworks and Craftsmanship with Your Ears
Stories spanning a thousand years, passed down by word of mouth; echoes of mountains and rivers lingering in the air.
Stilt dancing tells epic tales, while a tiny stage brings life’s diversity to light.
Tianjin’s clapper talk lays bare the world’s everyday hustle, and the pole-climbing stunt pushes the limits of the sky.
Every brushstroke paints a New Year picture, every pinch and mold shapes a clay deity.
Kites soar mightily on the wind, and the scent of herbal medicine soothes the masses.
And then there’s the grand imperial procession, turning daily life into poetry.
From folk literature to traditional medicine, from cross-talk and folk arts to festivals and customs—
The unexpected wonders of life are right here in Tianjin, right by your side.
“City Memories” specially invites experts in intangible cultural heritage studies,
The series The Incredible Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage is about to warm your heart.

💬 Editor’s Note
Why listen to intangible cultural heritage?
Not because it’s “old,” but because it has lived on for centuries.
It hides in grandma’s nursery rhymes, lurks in grandpa’s martial arts stances,
Sticks to the paint of New Year pictures, and drifts in the bitter scent of herbal medicine.
Next Monday, put on your headphones
And let the sound of intangible cultural heritage pierce through the city’s hustle and reach your heart.
