National Day Island Tour: The Southernmost Beach of the Mainland, Less Crowded Routes with Beautiful Scenery!

The southernmost beaches of Mainland China—we’ve got them all covered. An off-the-beaten-path route with stunning scenery and fewer crowds, a 7-day self-drive tour!

Coastlines, sandy beaches, salt pans, guesthouses, the sky…

At the southernmost tip of Guangdong
lies a fishing village filled with the scent of sea breeze.

This is a “virgin tourist destination” longed for by countless travelers.
Tides surge and recede, clouds roll and unfold,
coral clusters thrive in leisurely tranquility.

It’s Nanji Village.

In ancient times, it was known as “Extreme South” or “Utmost South,” boasting magnificent coastal scenery, dense historical and cultural relics, rich fishing village charm, and unique coral architecture. The southernmost point of mainland China, Cape Denglou, the convergence line of the Qiongzhou Strait and the Beibu Gulf, and the largest and most beautiful coral reef group on the continental shelf of mainland China are unparalleled tourism resources in China.

Here, you’ll not only find beautiful coastal scenery, rich fishing village culture, and a deep historical heritage, but also a unique kind of quiet beauty tucked away in its own corner.

The beaches of Donghai Island Tourist Resort have clean seawater,
with sand that is neither too coarse nor too fine and free of mud.
Its softness rivals that of Beidaihe and Pattaya.
The coconut grove bar garden, with its unique southern coastal charm,
is another scenic highlight of the resort.

Sure, what’s the Chinese text you’d like me to translate?

Donghai Island lies southeast of Zhanjiang City in Guangdong Province. Together with Haisan Island, it forms the gateway to Zhanjiang Port. Since the construction of a cross-sea causeway in 1958, Donghai Island is no longer an isolated island. It is also home to China’s longest beach.

Naozhou Island, known as Mang in ancient times, is an island formed by submarine volcanic eruptions about 200,000 to 500,000 years ago, and is also the largest volcanic island in China.

It boasts beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate all year round. The island is home to numerous historical sites, including the renowned Nayan Sea Stone Beach, a famous tourist resort in southern China, an ideal natural sea bathing beach, and the Naozhou Lighthouse, one of the world’s three most famous lighthouses alongside those in London and the Cape of Good Hope.

Tiancheng Terrace is located on Beiquan Beach, to the right of the gate of Wushi Port in Leizhou, stretching over 70 kilometers along the coast. The beach has deep sand layers with soft, moderately grained, pure white sand, which experts have rated as world-class.Facing the Beibu Gulf, the seawater is clean, calm, and free of undercurrents and sharks, with minimal temperature variation throughout the year (ranging between 20°C and 29°C). It is a seaside bathing beach suitable for year-round swimming, featuring an elegant environment, pleasant climate, birdsong and floral fragrance in all seasons, and a green coverage rate of over 90%.The photos are stunning, and the pace is leisurely. The beach faces west, perfect for watching the sunset! On clear nights, you can see lots of stars!! Spending the night on the beach, feeling the sea breeze and capturing the starry sky, is so romantic…

Techeng Island is only 2.8 nautical miles from Xiashan District, Zhanjiang City, with a journey of about 8 minutes. It stands in contrast to the modern Zhanjiang Port and military port, which also served as the filming location for the movie Operation Red Sea.Surrounding half the island are mangroves, ancient sea trees that have grown for thousands of years, dense and lush, clusters of emerald green, with flocks of birds flying in formation.Entering the woods at low tide, you see large, robust red mangrove roots like basins, with twisted trunks, thriving branches and leaves, and bead-like fruits, evoking a sense of spirit and strength.Pineapple Sea I have never seen such a vast expanse of pineapple fields, and it’s crowned with the fancy and impressive name—“Pineapple Sea.”In the locals’ words, the sunlight here is pure, without a trace of impurity. There’s also an abundance of fine Lingnan fruits, lush vegetation, and soft, fine sand. Besides, this beautiful coastal city holds deep within it a long history and rich cultural charm.

Trip Highlights

  1. Love the sea, sandy beaches, and sunshine? We’ve chosen to steer clear of those overly commercialized island spots.

  2. Into photography but don’t want your shots filled with crowds? We’ve picked a quieter stretch of coast where you can capture some great shots in peace.

  3. A seafood lover who’s wary of getting ripped off by locals? We’ve got you covered—you’re in control of your meals.

  4. After a hard year’s work, bring your family and friends, hold their hands, and stroll along the beach to enjoy a wonderful spring holiday.

  5. It’s a tropical fruit paradise—make sure you leave plenty of room in your trunk.
