The 28th Shanghai International Film Festival brings the “City Film Set” into real-life settings. Starting from May 20, two special exhibitions will officially open, and the festival’s themed blocks will gradually go live. Changning District’s Xinhua Road Xingfuli Block will be the first to transform into a Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) themed block.

“SIFF City Cinema” Mini Program – Your Personal On-the-Go Guide

Xinhua Road, Panyu Road, Xingfu Road… This neighborhood, naturally bathed in a cinematic glow, has long been a key “living room” for the Shanghai International Film Festival. This year, the festival has launched a brand-new “SIFF City Cinema” mini program, offering an interactive discovery experience that beautifully blends urban reality with the magic of film dreams.

Put on the headphones, and it becomes your personal audio guide. Strolling through the dappled shadows of plane trees, follow the neighborhood map at a leisurely pace. As you approach a spot, whispers of SIFF’s “time murmurs” will sound in your ears.

The streets and alleys beneath your feet may once have borne the footprints of cinematic masters; a building where you pause might have been the filming location for a classic movie. Join this urban wander, and amid the everyday hustle and bustle, piece together the scattered clues of light and shadow.

Today, the Shanghai International Film and Television Festival debuts its first-ever special exhibition, “Stars and Everyday Life,” now open to the public at Shanghai Film Art Center.

With a four-act narrative and over 500 rare items on display for the first time, multiple artists have come together to create an immersive experience. Film reels, a recreated red carpet, collectible ticket stubs—take a leisurely journey through cinematic memories. This is a public-interest exhibition, free of charge but with advance reservation required.

From May 20 to June 28, multiple themed interactive installations will be available in the街区 for a limited time, such as the light-and-shadow spiral staircase and the slow-flash movie-life-themed space. There are plenty of great photo angles, and no matter how you shoot, you’ll get a fantastic picture.

Additionally, by entering the mini-program “SIFF Block Check-in” zone, you can create your own exclusive digital avatar. Within the SIFF×Xinhua Road Xingfuli themed block, six check-in points have been specially set up. Take a spontaneous Citywalk, and by reaching a check-in point and fully listening to its story, you can generate a digital card unique to your SIFF themed block.
