Back to the old question: how to choose among the 7 hotels?

Before Senbo came along, family weekend vacations meant either a “day trip” to an amusement park, where adults were exhausted after keeping the kids entertained all day, or staying at a scenic resort hotel where kids had almost nothing to do except the pool. Kaiyuan Senbo offered the solution of “stay and play to the fullest.”

Over seven years, across seven cities, every Senbo is not a simple copy.

Here’s a big task: an in-depth comparison of the 7 Kaiyuan Senbo resorts.

[Hangzhou Senbo] is the first Senbo in China. As the “prototype,” Hangzhou Senbo may not be the largest in scale, but it excels in balance and maturity, plus its location just 30 minutes from downtown Hangzhou gives it a super high repurchase rate.

Rooms are divided into two sections: the main building and the vacation homes. The Water Park covers about 25,000m² indoors and outdoors. Though it’s been surpassed by later resorts, it’s still not small. With over 30 attractions like wave pools, water forts, kids’ pools, climbing pools, and sports pools, the most notable is China’s first rapid river, 256 meters long, circling the park. These have become standard for later Senbo resorts.

During the peak summer season, the Water Park also hosts water parties, light shows, hula dances, and fire shows.

On the 17th floor, the all-floor-to-ceiling-window Starry Lounge offers a 270-degree high-altitude view of the mountains and sea, with an infinity pool that blends into the ocean, perfect for watching the sunset paint the sky and water.

The hotel is only a 10-15 minute drive from the Wugongzhi Pier, and from there, it’s about a 15-minute boat ride to Putuo Mountain. This means guests can easily combine a trip to the amusement park with Putuo. Daqing Mountain Scenic Area (about 1.6km), Nansha Scenic Area (about 2.44km), and Dongsha Bay Beach are all within a few minutes’ drive. 【Jiaxing Senbo】 is the first Senbo with hot springs, and it also has the largest water park among the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai Senbo locations.

The water park and Fantasy Island are still the usual strong suits, and this one is pretty new.

Let me focus on the hot springs. The 9,600㎡ Xihe Hot Spring Center has both indoor and outdoor pools. Indoors, there are carbonated spring pools and a constant-temperature swimming pool; outdoors, you can soak while enjoying the mountain views of South-North Lake. Plus, there’s a sauna room and a full SPA experience. The Xihe Hot Springs and the water park open alternately, with the hot springs operating roughly from November to February.

The hotel is in Haiyan, Jiaxing, right next to the South-North Lake Scenic Area—just out the back door and you’re there. The setting sounds amazing, especially since South-North Lake is nicknamed “Little West Lake.”

Besides that, if you come in autumn, you can pick fruit from hundreds of orange groves.

There are two musical fountain light shows at 7 PM and 8 PM every night, which is something other places don’t have, and hotel guests can watch for free.

【Tonglu Senbo】 marks the official entry of the New Century Senbo brand into the 2.0 era. The total planned area is 3 square kilometers, but only the first phase—Wai Po Jia Resort Hotel—opened last July.

You might have noticed that Tonglu Senbo lacks a water park and Fantasy Island. For now, it has an indoor super-long swimming pool, with the Seventeen-Changchi Mountaintop Hot Springs on the upper level, where seventeen pools are scattered naturally.

In comparison, Tonglu Senbo turns nature into a playground. There are ancient hiking trails, riverside fishing, ATV off-roading, the Bamboo Addiction Bar by the ancient ferry on the Fuchun River, and a café in a natural cave—all clearly aimed at couples and younger crowds.

Another highlight is the 2,500㎡ riverside non-powered playground along the Fuchun River. Kids can run and climb on the big riverside lawn, playing in nature, which fits the 2.0 playground philosophy.

Tonglu Senbo takes accommodation to the next level by making it architectural art that naturally grows from the landscape. 【Rizhao Senbo】 wins over the northern market with its scale-leading water park.

The water park covers over 50,000 square meters and can accommodate 5,100 visitors at once. The indoor section is 20,800㎡, with all the standard features like a rapids river, surfboard riding, an infinity pool, and a water fortress. The snorkeling pool is unique to Rizhao, and the Time Travel slide set of five is widely considered the most fun in the park.

The outdoor water park is about 30,000㎡, with sun, sand, sea, and many large play structures—though the outdoor season is shorter in the north, running roughly from June to August.

Fantasy Island is average in size, but its ocean theme is still a big draw.

You can’t come to Rizhao without beachcombing. From the hotel’s second floor, you can go straight to Gate 3 of the Wanpingkou Coastal Scenic Area, and a three-minute walk lets you step on the sand and chase the waves. It’s also a prime spot to watch the sunrise over the sea. The hotel even provides free beachcombing tools, so taking the kids to dig for crabs and shells at low tide is a natural experience that indoor playgrounds can’t replace.
