Jingmei Village, Yamen Town, Xinhui District
Jingmei Village, located in the northwest of Yamen Town, covers an area of 3.7 square kilometers and is 1.75 kilometers from the town center. According to legend, during the Yuan Dynasty’s Zhizheng era, ancestors with the surname Chen settled here and named it “Gengbei Chen Village.” During the Ming Dynasty’s Zhengde era, a clansman passed the imperial exam and established a new village, taking the meaning of “plum blossoms bloom every year in the capital” and renaming it Jingmei.

Jingmei Village is rich in tourism resources, featuring the nationally protected first-class Hongsheng Ancestor Hall, as well as historical buildings such as Chen Xiang’s former residence and Kangwang Temple, which are listed in the Xinhui District’s immovable cultural relics register.

Here, the must-mention is the “Shen Chu Hua Xiang” alley, where the art of painting blends into the passage. Hidden along the alley are vivid, lifelike murals showcasing martial arts secrets—musical notations, ten core techniques, weaponry use, and even life-size models for you to interact with and try out a move. By the time you walk out of the alley, it feels as if you’ve absorbed the essence of Choy Li Fut boxing, like a dragon or tiger possessing you, itching to take action. Besides uncovering martial arts secrets, you can also visit the Hong Sheng Ancestral Hall, the birthplace of Choy Li Fut, and the Kang Wang Temple to marvel at the ancient, charming historic architecture and soak in its profound cultural heritage.
Caoping Village, Shuibu Town, Taishan City
Caoping Village is located in Changtang Village, Shuibu Town, Taishan City. It was established during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, over 160 years ago. The village still preserves intact the founding stone tablet, ancestral hall, and school from that era. The people of Caoping place great importance on education, with existing old-style private schools like the Longshen Family School built during the Qing Dynasty and the Caoping Primary School built in 1930. The village boasts many notable figures, such as Lin Yuanfang, a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Revenue appointed by the Daoguang Emperor of the Qing Dynasty.** The grassland village is rich in the culture of overseas Chinese hometown and has abundant resources. By introducing a cultural tourism planning company, it pioneered the “village shareholder system” and promoted the revitalization project of the grassland village. So far, environmental improvements, tourist restrooms, the renovation of the grassland primary school, a coffee school, the grassland square, sightseeing plank roads, stone-paved main streets, partial facade restoration of some ancient houses, and lighting projects have been completed. Observation decks, waterfront platforms, and the Lintang Garden project are also set to be finished soon.

In addition, projects such as an agricultural museum, a hydrophilic wetland park, a cultural arts center, an artist creative camp, an RV camp, a century-old overseas Chinese hotel, a paddy field experience inn, water recreation facilities, and a happy vegetable garden have been included in the plans. The Caoping Village cultural tourism project integrates rural scenery, organic agriculture, specialty dining, overseas Chinese culture, and trendy guesthouses, blending advanced tourism concepts to strive to become a model benchmark for rural cultural tourism projects in Taishan and even Jiangmen.
