I really like the Beijing Oriental Juneyao. It’s in Oriental Plaza, whose address is No. 1 East Chang’an Avenue (just think about how great that location is). I’ve been to Sanya over ten times and have stayed in various bays—to be honest, they’re all pretty similar.

Once, I went to Aranya in Sanya and fell in love instantly. Aranya Sanya is amazing—it’s not by the sea but hidden in a valley, yet it’s Sanya’s cultural landmark.

It’s so comfortable here—it’s a place I’d want to stay longer.

Aranya Sanya Lanshan Hotel is right in this greenery. The Lanshan Hotel has 135 rooms, not huge. But if you’ve been to those resorts in Sanya with thousands of rooms, you’ll understand what this scale means—no crowded lobbies, no buffet lines.

And it just opened a few months ago—a 2026 new hotel. Everything is brand new.

It’s comfortable to stay in with great hardware.

Aranya has always been strong on amenities—it’s a complex with a cinema, bookstore, hot springs, and even a general store. I particularly like the outdoor infinity pool—swimming along, you bump into lush mountains, and where the water meets the sky, there are layered tropical plants.

The Valley Hot Spring is on the 21st floor, included in one package.

Jianshan Main Hall is less than 100 meters from the hotel, a Tsutaya bookstore plus café with wabi-sabi design.

I love Haikou Langham—its white, pink, and gold color scheme is unmatched by any other hotel in Haikou.

If you don’t mind being in a less popular bay, this Narada at Yuelan Bay is already racing ahead on the high value-for-money track.

After all, 999 yuan for three nights at a Sanya seaside hotel is such a deal.

The hotel is at the entrance of Dadonghai, actually not far from Dadonghai, Eternal Love, and Forest Park. It’s only a 10-minute drive to Yalong Bay Station, making it easy to combine attractions.

The reason for such high value is mainly its off-the-beaten-path location. But if it’s your first time in Sanya and you want to visit some sights, this is really a good choice.

The hotel doesn’t have a beach in front, but there’s a tidal flat behind. After the tide goes out every day, you can go beachcombing—great for entertaining kids.

Also, even though it’s not in a popular bay, there’s a scheduled shuttle to Haitang Bay Duty-Free City, so it’s convenient for going there too.

The Super Private Courtyard Garden Room and Super Twin Mountain Sea Family Room are both high-end room types. The Super Private Courtyard Garden Room alone costs over 700 yuan per night on the calendar. Plus, this Narada opened in 2019, with low usage over the three years, so the hardware is still quite new.

The Super Private Courtyard Garden King Room is 85 sqm, a very high-level room type.

But note, although this room is called “Mountain Sea View,” since it’s at the river estuary, the view is more like a river or bay rather than the open sea.

Sanya already lacks one-bay-one-hotel options, and Tianli Bay Hyatt is among the few that offer the best value for money.

These hotels are in Yalong Bay. Xinghua Suite Holiday Inn and Xinghua Huayi Resort Hotel both belong to the IHG Group, adjacent to each other, with some shared public areas and facilities. The hotel has a massive kids’ play area with over 20 activities, keeping you entertained all day without repeats, making it easy to handle the kids. There’s also an outdoor water play area for children. The Superior Twin Room is the base room, 40 sqm with two 1.35m single beds. The highlight of Wanda Regency is its low density, only 92 rooms (villas), as far as I remember, the fewest rooms among Haitang Bay’s seafront hotels. During my stays, even at Chinese New Year, the public areas were hardly crowded (except the breakfast room). It’s perfect for a luxurious getaway. The Townhouse Garden View Villa is the base villa (1999 for two nights) without a private pool. Otherwise, I’d recommend the Serene Garden Pool Villa (3388 yuan for two nights, including pickup or drop-off), a 220 sqm standalone pool villa.

These two hotels are right next to each other. Wanda Realm is kid-friendly, Wanda Regency isn’t, but you can use Wanda Realm’s kid facilities when staying at Wanda Regency. If you want a big sea-view villa in Sanya, I’d recommend Wanda Regency.

Taizhou’s Shenxianju is a national 5A-level scenic spot and provincial geopark. Search for it on social platforms, and you’ll see it’s really trending everywhere.

There’s plenty of accommodation around Shenxianju, like farm stays, guesthouses, and budget hotels for 100 yuan a night—lots of options. But if you want to fully enjoy the scenic area and stay comfortably, the DoubleTree by Hilton is almost the only choice.

Lutai Tiantai’s biggest advantage is its location. The hotel is right at the entrance of Guoqing Temple scenic area, so you can just walk into the temple. The hotel was renovated at the end of 2025, adding a new Xide Coffee shop, a noodle house (Lutai Noodle Shop), and a tea room.

Guoqing Temple is definitely worth visiting, and it’s free.

If you stay at Lutai Tiantai, the hotel offers a free guided tour (departing at 8:30 AM), where staff take you around Guoqing Temple with on-site explanations.

A visit to Tiantai Mountain must include Guoqing Temple. Having a guide makes the cultural experience better, and that’s Lutai Tiantai’s edge.

The hotel also hosts special cultural activities like intangible heritage Yijinjing, meditation, and sutra copying in the workshop, which adds a Zen-like experience.

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice myself—it’s one I like.

Right outside the hotel, there’s a coffee shop I personally love called Xide Coffee. It specializes in “Buddhist coffee,” which is pretty interesting. The shop was recently renovated, making the social vibe even stronger.

This scenic area is three times the size of Wuzhen. Puyuan Fashion Ancient Town has been running for three years, and some joke it’s a “three-year old town,” but that really underestimates the history of the “Jiahe Giant Town” and the aesthetic design of Puyuan’s water town.

The word “fashion” in Puyuan Fashion Ancient Town initially felt a bit mismatched.

But I later realized, “Trends aren’t set in stone, and old towns aren’t always stuck in the past.” As a rising star among Jiangnan ancient towns, Puyuan Fashion Ancient Town has indeed taken a different path from other traditional towns.

It was once the “silk capital heart” of Ming and Qing Jiangnan, weaving the prosperity of “a thousand bolts a day, clothing the world” with threads. Now, it’s just coming back as a “fashion ancient town.”

Summer is a great time to visit Puyuan, with a dozen water-related cooling activities, like Puyuan Water Street, nighttime water splashing, Song-style cool markets, summer evening dinners, and kayaking.

During summer break, there are also night tours. I really think Puyuan’s nights are the highlight—if you get a chance, definitely stay to experience it.

There’s lantern-lit night tours, starlight rowing night tours, and Puyuan Dream of Splendor (summer edition).

To tour Puyuan Ancient Town, there are two ways: take a boat ride within the scenic area, or walk through the streets and alleys. Both methods complement each other, letting you soak in more of the ancient town charm.

Meishang Resort Hotel is the highest-end accommodation within the scenic area. It’s laid out in a “卍” (swastika) shape, symbolizing “auspiciousness and virtue.” The design and hardware are excellent, with a water garden in the atrium.

Meishang Resort Hotel is quite large, with over 400 rooms. It’s a resort centered around Zen culture, blending the poetry of Jiangnan gardens into modern design.

The atrium is a beautiful Jiangnan garden courtyard, with bluestone paths winding to a landscape pond where koi fish swim among water lilies—perfect for photos.

The rooms are pretty spacious, 50-55 square meters, each with a balcony and great natural light.

The bathroom is roomy, so two people can get ready without bothering each other, and the big bathtub in the middle is really satisfying to soak in. All in all, it’s a comfy stay.

For better value, go for Puyuan’s inns. There are several inns in Puyuan, each quite different. They’re spread along Puyuan Street in the scenic area, all converted from century-old residential buildings. Rooms face water or streets, so you can open the window and enjoy the beautiful Jiangnan water town views. Room styles vary, giving you plenty of choices.

In terms of value, the inns are really high—499 yuan a night including tickets, and the tickets alone are already pricey.

The hotel’s design theme revolves around Puyuan silk history and Song dynasty cultural charm. The interior is antique and elegant, cleverly incorporating the shape of ancient officials’ hats into the space through artistic design.

Yanguan Ancient Town has a rich historical heritage and numerous famous sites. It now boasts five national-level cultural heritage protection units, including the Yanguan Sea Wall and Sea God Temple, Chen Gelao’s Mansion, the Anguo Temple Stone Pillar, Wang Guowei’s Former Residence, and the Haining section of the Qiantang River Sea Wall—the most in Haining city.

Inside the town, traditional buildings are arranged in an orderly way, with white walls, black tiles, and carved beams, showcasing the gentle beauty of a Jiangnan water town.

If you want to take a boat ride along the river, this is also a great choice.

Actually, many people say Jiangnan ancient towns are too similar, but in my opinion, Yanguan’s tide-watching alone makes it unique. Haining has daily tides, and Yanguan has big tides every month, with over 150 good tide-watching days each year.

I was lucky during my last visit—I saw the Qiantang River tide for the first time, and it was pretty big.

Tishang in Wuzhen is a high-end resort hotel.

I’ve stayed here and really liked it. Dali Shili Hilton isn’t by Erhai Lake or Dali Ancient Town; it’s halfway up Cangshan Mountain. Designed by HBA, the hotel maximizes the Erhai views. I especially love the lobby, perfect for watching sunrise over Erhai in the morning. Among Changsha’s many hotels, the Grand Hyatt’s price holds well. I think it’s due to its excellent location, solid hardware quality, and its Chinese restaurant, Xiangjiang 36, ranking in my top three for Hunan cuisine in the city. The location is such that you can frame all of “Changsha’s classic trio”—Xiangjiang River, Orange Isle, and Yuelu Mountain—from the hotel. It’s also right above Wenheyou (the famous restaurant), which, though less popular now, has retro decor that’s still great for photos. Opened in 2017, Changsha Grand Hyatt is better maintained than I expected. The design incorporates Hunan culture, with Xiang embroidery murals in the lobby, Chu-Han lacquerware, and red brick mosaics from Changsha Tongguan kiln—full of artistic vibes.
