Recommended June Travel Destinations! Reverse Travel, Experience a 25°C Summer with Fewer Crowds and Beautiful Scenery!

Seeing everyone getting anxious, I’m skipping the trendy lists today and sharing a few of my secret cool getaways in China.

Fewer crowds, stunning scenery, and nature’s own air conditioning—perfect for a trip next month.

Wugong Mountain “The ever-changing grassland in the clouds”

Years ago, Wugong Mountain was a secret only known to outdoor enthusiasts.

Back then, there weren’t as many people or those viral check-in spots. Only those with a passion for the wild made it to the summit, measuring this high-altitude meadow with their own steps, touching the rawest nature.

Then short videos blew up, and this hidden mountain suddenly became famous.

People realized that right on their doorstep was an underrated Jiangnan gem, standing alongside Lushan and Hengshan as one of the three great mountains of the region.

Wugong’s soul lies 1,600 meters up in the clouds—here, 100,000 acres of alpine meadows stretch along the ridges to the horizon, rolling green waves like a top-tier velvet carpet. This “sky grassland” is rare worldwide.

The weather here is as fickle as a child’s mood. One moment, the sun is blazing, making you squint for shade; the next, thick fog rushes in like a tide, wrapping the mountain tight, disorienting you.

Before you can pull out a raincoat, heavy raindrops start falling. Just as you’re scrambling, the rain stops, the clouds part, and the sky suddenly bursts into fiery clouds, red and gold, like a spilled palette, wildly intense.

The climb is tough, legs heavy as lead, each step a battle with yourself.

But don’t give up halfway. As you gasp at the summit, the view opens up: the sea of clouds below flows and surges like a silent waterfall. This awe leaves words powerless.

Only then do you understand: “Either don’t go to Wugong Mountain, or you’ll want to go back countless times.”

Libo “The emerald on Earth’s belt”

Just saying “Libo” feels like a breath of cool, grassy air filling your lungs.

Summer here seems forgotten by the heat, leaving only a dense green, with winds carrying moist leaf scents. Take a deep breath, and your whole being feels refreshed.

Maolan’s forests are a living fossil miracle—the largest remaining karst forest at this latitude on Earth.

Peaks stand like bamboo shoots, waterfalls hang like white silks, hiding deep caves and unique ethnic charm.

Everything here grows freely, undisturbed.

Eyes full of varying greens, the air so rich in negative ions it feels squeezable. This peace away from the bustle must be experienced firsthand.

Adjacent to Maolan, the Zhangjiang Scenic Area takes “green” to the extreme.

Xiaoqikong, Daqikong, Shuichun River, Zhangjiang scenic belt—58 spots like a cool emerald necklace.

Xiaoqikong is the favorite: a 12-kilometer-long valley packed with caves, dense forests, lakes, waterfalls, strange rocks, and clear streams, like an oversized bonsai masterpiece.

The water is the highlight. Minerals on the riverbed, with sunlight refraction, create a chillingly clear azure blue, like melted gems.

A century-old blue stone bridge rests on the water, its arch reflections forming a perfect full moon. Standing there, you feel like you’ve stumbled into a paradise, your heart calming.

Ulanbutong “Experience the freedom of galloping on horseback”

How can summer be without grasslands?

By day, watch cattle and sheep graze slowly; you can’t help but roll and run on the soft grass. At night, lie on the meadow, gaze at the stars, and let your thoughts drift with the Milky Way. For grasslands, Ulanbutong tops the list.

Entering from the south gate connecting to Saihanba, you first see the Ulanbutong film base.

The terrain is intriguing: rolling hills surround flat pastures, with dark green forests embedded like spots on a green carpet, painting a “vast sky, boundless wilds” frontier scene, stretching to the horizon.

To read Ulanbutong, slow your pace. At dawn, the grassland is wrapped in a thin mist, milky white, moving and rising along the grass tips, like a veil over the earth.

When the sun jumps out, the mist clears, revealing fresh green laid bare before you.

From a high vantage, the greenery is dotted with tiny yellow-white specks—up close, they’re round Mongolian yurts, like white mushrooms scattered on the green, playful and charming.

No glaring high-rises, no annoying honks—just gently flowing rivers, sun-glinting sand dunes, endless fields of green, and a sky so blue it stuns.

Troubles, work stress, others’ opinions—all can be tossed away. Run if you want, shout if you want, be as free as you like.

Yili “The legendary Jiangnan beyond the Great Wall”

Xinjiang’s beauty changes with each season, but for summer at its peak, Yili is the ceiling. The grasslands here are lush and unreserved.

It’s not patchy but a seamless giant carpet—starting from the stream, the green spreads across the pastures, climbing the lush tree line to the distant snowy peaks.

Deep green, light green, dark green, tender green—layers of green dye the entire landscape.

If it rains, clouds and mist swirl around the midslopes, like white hada scarves, adding a celestial touch, making you want to explore within the clouds.

By late June, Yili dons a splendid garment.

Vast lavender fields bloom, the earth soaked in purple fragrance.

Wind blows, flowers sway, creating purple waves. Standing in the fields, you float on a purple sea, each breath carrying a romantic sweetness.

For lavender fields, no need for distant Provence—Yili’s purple romance is enough to dazzle the whole summer.

Huaniao Island “Happiness becomes tangible here”

Before visiting, I heard, “Once you’ve been to Huaniao Island, no other sea will do.”

Only upon stepping onto this island did I grasp its weight. It has a magic that makes you never want to leave.

Tiny, you can circle it on foot. No vehicles allowed, so the air is especially clean.

Roadside cottages are decorated warmly, window boxes spilling with blooming flowers, wind chimes tinkling in the sea breeze. They’re not fancy villas, but they radiate a comforting, lived-in feel.

Roaming the alleys, you never know what’s around the corner—maybe a sunbathing cat napping on stone steps, or a wildflower peeking from a wall, a little surprise.

Follow the path to the seaside, kick off your shoes, and step onto the soft, cool sand.

Waves like playful children gently tap your ankles, then retreat laughing. At that moment, worries feel light, carried away by the sea breeze.

Only the gentle wind, soft beach, and slow days are worth holding onto.

If time allows, stay a few days. Wake naturally to the sound of waves, nap under an old tree in the afternoon, watch the sunset paint the sea orange in the evening.

Here, time seems slowed by the breeze, unhurried.

The weather is just right, crowds are thin. Pick a place that speaks to you, pack your mood, and go. The essence of summer lies in these cozy spots, living life as you like.

Thanks for every ‘❤️’ you give—we see it!
