But honestly, it’s been over a decade, and even great hotels show their age.

Rooms are 35 sqm. I’ve stayed here, and some find the rooms dim (typical of the Pu series).

I really like Grand Hyatt Beijing. The hotel is at Oriental Plaza, and the address is No. 1 East Chang’an Avenue (just think about it—being called No. 1 Chang’an Avenue shows how great the location is).

The hotel is directly connected to Oriental Plaza shopping mall and is “zero distance” from Wangfujing Street. You can even walk to Tiananmen and the Forbidden City (though biking is more convenient).

Right outside the hotel, there are 3 subway lines and 2 stations: Wangfujing Station on Lines 1 and 8, and Dongdan Station on Line 5.

Since it was renovated in 2023, Grand Hyatt Beijing feels very comfortable. The lobby is airy with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and lets in natural light from the courtyard.

The highlight of the public area is the pool.

It’s a tropical rainforest-style pool with a 1,500-square-meter dome featuring a virtual sky ceiling. Cave waterfalls and lounge chairs recreate a Southeast Asian resort vibe, with Mayan totem carvings and artificial coconut groves around.

The hotel’s Chinese restaurant, Made in China, is a regular on major food lists. Its classic dishes like Peking duck and dessert platters are adopted by many Hyatt restaurants, including those at Grand Hyatt Macau and Grand Hyatt Jeju.

So the dining credit is great value, and several packages include it.

I’d recommend the Guest View Room, which offers views of Chang’an Avenue or Beijing’s hutong alleys. However, this room type hasn’t been renovated, so it might feel a bit dated.

The view from the room is something like this (depending on the floor and angle).

The package includes access to the Grand Club. The Grand Club is the executive lounge, offering breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening Happy Hour. I’d suggest going up in the evening to catch the sunset over the Forbidden City.

Among all hotels in Changsha, Grand Hyatt Changsha’s prices are relatively stable.

I think it’s because of its great location, top-notch Hyatt hardware quality, and the Chinese restaurant River 36, which ranks in my top three for Hunan restaurants.

Let’s start with location: in one word, it’s a hotel that frames the “Changsha classic trio” of the Xiang River, Orange Isle, and Yuelu Mountain in your view.

The hotel is also right next to Wenheyou. Even though Wenheyou isn’t as famous now, its retro-style decor still makes for great photos.

As a hotel that opened in 2017, Grand Hyatt Changsha is better maintained than I expected. Its design has a Hunan cultural touch, with Xiang embroidery murals in the lobby, Chu-Han lacquerware, and walls made of red bricks from Changsha’s Tongguan Kiln, full of artistic vibes.

I personally love the red, black, and gold color scheme.

I also really like the Chinese restaurant River 36. It can make authentic Hunan dishes or milder versions for those who don’t eat spicy food.

Their “mild” is genuinely mild.

The package includes a Grand Club River View King Room (50 sqm) overlooking the Xiang River, or a Deluxe King/Twin Room (71 sqm). The Deluxe King Room features a 270-degree curved view with partial Xiang River scenery. The Deluxe Room also includes a single sofa bed, catering to families.

Everyone knows Sanya gets pricey in summer, so I need a game-changer to shake up the market.

This room type is great – the Deluxe Garden View Suite, a 90m² premium room. Since it’s a suite, you get Regency Club benefits, including breakfast and evening Happy Hour light meals.

We’ve stayed at this Hyatt before; it’s a resort-adjacent hotel. The main attractions are the Ocean Paradise (see sea animals, ride big amusement rides), the Ocean Water Park (water fun, seasonal opening), and the South China Sea Train.

The Ocean Paradise is divided into four areas and is huge. The official has suggested three route recommendations for your reference.

The highlight is the indoor aquarium, with over 1,500 species and more than 40,000 marine creatures.

Plus, the Ocean Paradise is the world’s largest marine animal conservation center, often involved in rescuing dolphins, whales, and endangered wildlife.

Before you go, make sure to set aside time for a few shows: “Blue Sea Guard” and “Dolphin Mobilization” are must-sees. The 4D interactive show at Tang Cinema and the mermaid performance at South China Sea Secret Realm are highly recommended.

If it doesn’t rain, there’s a fireworks show every night at the park, which you can also see from the hotel.

The South China Sea Train is a small train over the sea surface.

The resort also has a water park, which is quite fun too. It features 16 large water play devices and a wave pool over 4,000 square meters, bigger than the water world at Atlantis Sanya.

The Suzhou Hyatt Regency is located at 88 Huachi Street in the Industrial Park, right above the Times Square station of Metro Lines 1 and 8.

The location is fantastic in Suzhou—five minutes north to the Jinji Lake Ferris Wheel scenic area, ten minutes west to Eslite Bookstore. Moonlight Pier, Jiuguang Department Store, and Shin Kong Place are all within a 15-minute walk.

The hotel’s dining is excellent, largely thanks to Huachi 88. This restaurant has been on the Black Pearl list for eight consecutive years and is essentially a foolproof choice for entertaining guests in Suzhou.

The package includes a lake view room, so you can see Jinji Lake. The room layout is open-plan, with a half-height cabinet serving as a soft divider between the bed and sofa area, and the bathroom separated from the bedroom by frosted glass.

First, a fun fact: the best sea views in Qingdao are in Laoshan, and the best sea views in Laoshan are at Shilaoren. The Qingdao Shandong Gang Hyatt Regency is right at Shilaoren, right in the middle of this 3-kilometer beach. Step out the door and you’re at the sea; the hotel’s B1 floor leads directly to the beach.

This package does have a summer surcharge, but that’s unavoidable. Qingdao is expensive in summer, and this hotel is right on the beach.

Other Qingdao hotels usually require crossing a road to get to the beach.

Qingdao’s food scene is worth exploring, but the Donghai 88 restaurant at the Shandong Gang Hyatt Regency is a standout. It focuses on Shandong cuisine and local seafood, with excellent braised prawns and scallion-braised sea cucumber. The big draw is transparent pricing—no ripoffs.

I’ve stayed there. It opened in 2017 but is in great shape. Located in the Wuyuan Bay financial and commercial center, it’s directly connected to the Wanyue City shopping mall downstairs, with the Bay Area SOHO nearby, offering plenty of food and drink options.

Xiamen Island is small, so as long as you’re on the island, getting around is convenient.

I’ve stayed at the Wuyuan Bay Hyatt several times. The hotel has a strong southern Fujian vibe, with window lattices, floral tiles, and red walls, making you feel like you’re in a Min-style mansion.

The hotel’s Yue Xiang Chinese restaurant is tasty, specializing in Fujian cuisine.

I recommend going for the 1299-yuan two-night lounge room package. It’s 300 yuan more but adds two days of breakfast and executive lounge access, where you can enjoy afternoon tea and Happy Hour. When I go to Xiamen, I’ve stayed at this Hyatt several times, and I generally recommend it.

This hotel opened in January 2025, and we stayed shortly after. The location is interesting—at 36 Tianquan Road in Siming District, right next to Zeng Cuo An, across from Music Plaza. A two-minute walk takes you into that artsy fishing village.

Nearby are Xiamen’s mountain-sea health trails, Mengfadi, and Pan Gui Tower—all artistic landmarks in Xiamen.

The hotel lobby has a “marine vibe + Nanyang style” theme, with high ceilings, rattan furniture, and red-brick elements from southern Fujian, creating a relaxed resort feel.

The lobby, restaurant, and bar are all on the first floor in a compact space.

The hotel’s restaurant, 36 Fang, is named after the address. It’s a Hyatt tradition to incorporate the address into the restaurant name.

In the evening, the restaurant has live performances, not just background music, but full-on live band shows. The singers are good, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.

The top floor is a hidden gem, with an infinity pool and bar offering views overlooking the sea.

The hotel has 196 rooms, with basic rooms starting at 38 square meters. The minimalist design incorporates southern Fujian elements.

The first impression of the rooms is spaciousness. Wooden floors, white walls, floor-to-ceiling windows—sunlight pours in from all angles, making the whole room bright.

The designer is Singapore’s Silver Fox Studios, which previously worked on the Hyatt Centric in Kuala Lumpur.

If you’re going to Xiamen and want a new, well-located hotel, I think the Xiamen Marina Hyatt Centric is a solid choice.

I’ve stayed there. It’s the first hotel under Suzhou Gold Mantis’ ownership.

Honestly, I’ve stayed in plenty of five-star hotels, but the Suzhou Park Hyatt feels completely different. It’s not that in-your-face “look how luxurious I am” vibe of a nouveau riche show-off, but more of a “I won’t say anything, just feel it slowly” kind of understated elegance.

Since the owner is Gold Mantis, which specializes in design, many luxury hotels in China have interiors designed by them, like the Aman in Shanghai, Waldorf Astoria Beijing, Bulgari Beijing, Four Seasons Beijing, and Four Seasons Hangzhou.

The Suzhou Park Hyatt is Gold Mantis’ first hotel, so they must have put a lot of effort into it.

The location is excellent—two steps east to Jinji Lake, two steps west to Eslite Bookstore. Stroll along the lake during the day, watch the Ferris Wheel light up at night. Want to visit the old town? Take a taxi to Pingjiang Road in 15 minutes.

The Suzhou Park Hyatt is inspired by Suzhou gardens and lakeside mansions, with a “seven-courtyard layout” showcasing the layered aesthetics of Jiangnan residences.

I personally love the garden-style landscaping and the pool. The pool’s jade walls and classical lattice design are stunning.

The indoor pool is amazing—a 25-meter heated pool with translucent jade walls that shimmer under the lights. It’s a great photo spot.

The Suzhou Park Hyatt has 178 rooms, with basic rooms starting at 50 square meters.

The package’s room type is the Park Room, with king beds at 50-60 square meters and twin beds at 58-65 square meters.

The highlight is that every room has a separate living area. Look at the photo below—there’s a distinct sitting area in the room. Many hotels would call this type of room an open-plan suite.

The hotel has three restaurants, with Xizhou Xuan being a Black Pearl one-star, specializing in Suzhou and Huaiyang cuisine.

Breakfast is at Xizhou Xuan, served as a semi-buffet. But I recommend focusing on the à la carte menu—that’s where the magic is.

The Suzhou-style Aozao noodles are a must-order. The broth is made from five local lake seafood, and the braised pork topping is tender and flavorful. After eating it, I started wondering if the “Suzhou-style noodle soup” I’d had at other hotels was all fake.

I’ve stayed here, and I really like this hotel. It’s a Park Hyatt through and through.

The hotel plays it cool—low-key entrance with a winding path, but once you reach the 65th-floor lobby, with its 12-meter floor-to-ceiling windows, the central axis of Pearl River New City unfolds like a painting. Canton Tower to the left, Huacheng Square below, and the whole CBD lights at your feet. You’ll think, “Damn, this Park Hyatt is awesome.”

I’d especially recommend the 63rd-floor heated pool at Park Hyatt Guangzhou. It’s 25 meters long—not huge—but it faces Canton Tower directly. The infinity edge blends the water with the distant city skyline. When the light show starts at night, the pool reflects the Little Waist’s glow, and the whole scene ripples with life.

The spa is also great for photos, with plenty of art pieces.

The food’s good too. Yuejingxuan, the 68th-floor Chinese restaurant, has held Black Pearl and Michelin honors for eight consecutive years.

The top-floor bar, Yue Bar, is one of Guangzhou’s highest open-air bars. From there, you look down on the city: the Pearl River winding east, the concrete jungle of Tianhe CBD west, and Little Waist right ahead. After dark, the skyline looks like a spilled palette.

Park Hyatt Guangzhou has 208 rooms and suites, spread from the 53rd to 62nd floors—every single one a skyline room.

The 1699 package offers a higher-tier Pearl River View King Room, with the river winding by. The room is nicely appointed: custom solid wood and leather headboard, long-staple cotton bedding that feels gentle to the touch.

I’ve stayed at Rosewood in Zhujiang New Town and also at the Four Seasons. Next time I’m in Guangzhou, I’ll probably go with Park Hyatt again. Not that it’s necessarily better than those two, but it feels more familiar and relaxed for me.

Grand Hyatt Chengdu is also super well-located—right downstairs is Chunxi Road, a 5-minute walk to Taikoo Li and IFS, making shopping, eating, and strolling super convenient.

I’ve stayed here several times, and the experience is great. The interior design was done by the famous Tony Chi.

Grand Hyatt Chengdu has many highlights. For example, the indoor pool is gorgeous—on the 13th floor, 25 meters long, with a glass skylight letting in light—a perfect spot for photos.

Oh, and upon check-in, you get dining privilege discounts, so it’s a good chance to try their food for great value.

I highly recommend No.8 Hot Pot Chinese Restaurant, which has been on the Black Pearl list for years and is also Michelin Guide-recognized—the only hot pot place in Chengdu with both certifications.

The design follows Tony Chi’s market concept, making the whole restaurant feel like a lively bazaar, with ingredients displayed on counters and an open kitchen where you can see chefs making broth and prepping ingredients by hand.

There’s a row of cute little panda sculptures at the entrance, and the 15th-floor outdoor garden is great for photos.

I’ve stayed here many times. The City View Room at Grand Hyatt Chengdu is 40 sqm, with a Muji vibe—cozy and pleasant. Normally, the base room sells for around 900 per night without breakfast.

Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Place Taoxichuan are in the same building. Hyatt Centric is slightly higher in quality and looks. The architecture was designed by British architect David Chipperfield—both hotels are packed with details.

The location is also great—right in the heart of Taoxichuan Cultural and Creative Block Phase II, just across the street from where countless artists and craftspeople gather.

The pool deserves a shout-out. All-white tiles with light blue water—simple blue-white tones that are fresh and pleasing.

The base room at Hyatt Centric is 45 sqm, with warm beige and wood tones, textured fabric curtains, and ceramic bowl-shaped lamps—details that show the designer was serious.

All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, so on sunny days, sunlight pours in.

The dining at Metropolitan Hyatt is a hidden gem. Its Chinese restaurant is Chang’an No.1, known for its wood-fired Peking duck. That’s right, in fiery Chongqing, someone is making authentic Peking duck, and doing it quite well.

Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui Hyatt Regency offers a deluxe room for one night plus 60% off in-house dining at the hotel’s restaurants and bars for 1718 yuan. Macau Grand Hyatt offers a Grand Suite for one night with breakfast for two adults and two kids (under 12) plus a free minibar for 1748 yuan.

Victoria Harbour Hyatt Centric is newer, opened in 2019, located in North Point (three stops after Causeway Bay). The hotel is less than 100 meters from the North Point MTR station.

This area is nice—close to the Causeway Bay shopping district, and you can take a Star Ferry directly to Hung Hom, making it easy to get to Tsim Sha Tsui.

The biggest highlight of Hyatt Centric is the harbor view; even the base room has a sea view. The base rooms are 23.5 square meters.

The hotel has an infinity pool with an amazing view of Victoria Harbour.

Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui Hyatt’s location is superb—it’s in the upper levels of the K11 building, with the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station right downstairs. The hotel is directly connected to K11, which is about as prime as it gets in Hong Kong.

The base rooms are 28 square meters with a minimalist modern style.

This area is home to Seoul’s old-school luxury hotels, the so-called “Namsan Three” (Grand Hyatt, Banyan Tree, Shilla). The shared feature is that one side faces Namsan (Tower), and the other side offers a view of Gangnam (style).

Seoul Grand Hyatt opened in 1978 and was once owned by the Pritzker family (which also owns Hyatt).

The hotel was fully renovated in 2019—all rooms and public areas were completely redone. So it’s not old at all.

Seoul Grand Hyatt is a hillside hotel, strong in its views. The huge floor-to-ceiling glass wall on the first floor offers a panoramic view of Itaewon and Gangnam.

First, since it’s on the mountainside, there aren’t many breakfast spots nearby. Second, the hotel’s breakfast is excellent, and the view is even better.

If you go early, you can see the lights intertwining with the sky, feeling the clash of darkness and light as Seoul gradually wakes up.

When I go to Seoul, I really like staying at this Grand Hyatt—I’ve been there three times. The view is just too good.

The hotel highlights are the 6th-floor infinity pool and the Spectrum rooftop bar.

Grand Hyatt Erawan is the hotel closest to the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok; the main entrance is a short walk from the famous shrine. Plus, the hotel connects directly to the Chidlom BTS station, making travel easy.

Major shopping malls in Bangkok are also within walking distance.

Rooms start at 40 square meters. Despite being in the heart of downtown Bangkok, the stay experience is great, and the rooms are quiet.
