There’s an old saying that goes: Nothing beats dumplings, and nothing’s more fun than… the night market! Right?
Introduction
A Collection of Local Chinese Cuisine – Qingdao, Shandong
I just updated an article about Qingdao’s food two days ago! Some friends messaged me, saying I forgot to include the night market food. How could I do that?
So, I pulled an all-nighter to write this. Whatever you want, I’ve got it—your wish is my command!
Based on your needs, I’ve put together the most popular night markets in Qingdao, each with its own vibe. You can pick based on your itinerary:
🏙️ Taitung Night Market (including Zier Street) – Top-tier downtown hotspot, largest in scale
Recommendations: Old Xing’s Meat Skewers, Traditional cold rice noodle rolls, Songhe Road No.1 sausage, Golden-thread beef pie
Highlights: The biggest and busiest night market in Qingdao, with neon signs creating a fantastic atmosphere and plenty of trendy snacks.
🎒 Licun Night Market – Most popular, student favorite
Recommendations: Grilled oysters, grilled gluten skewers, stinky tofu, grilled squid
Highlights: The most bustling with affordable prices, a student favorite, full of local flair, made up of both Xiangyang Road and Lecheng Night Market.
🦞 Haowa Pedestrian Street (Haowa Night Market) – Local vibe, seafood stalls
Recommendations: Spicy stir-fried clams, draft beer, freshly caught seafood
Highlights: Represents the local vibe of the west coast, focusing on affordable seafood stalls, experiencing old-school Qingdao nightlife.
🍢 Lyujiazhuang Night Market – Chengyang landmark, influencer hangout
Recommendations: Specialty BBQ, various snacks
Highlights: The benchmark night market in Chengyang District, huge in size with over 600 stalls and an immense variety of food.
Qingdao’s night market culture is rich. For the most authentic “local vibe,” these spots are locals’ go-tos, and you can’t go wrong! 👍🏻
That’s it for tonight’s night market section. Anything else you want to know? Leave a comment, and I’ll pin it and follow up!
Or feel free to message me privately, and I’ll write about it. No need to be shy—we’re all family!
