Expanding the Shanghai International Science and Technology Innovation Center to the Yangtze River Delta marks a new phase in the center’s development, moving from a single-city breakthrough to regional collaborative and integrated development. This is both a crucial measure to align with the trends of the technological revolution and take the initiative in technological development, and an urgent requirement to deepen coordinated regional development and improve the quality and efficiency of growth.

This afternoon (May 21), the Joint Central-Local Conference on Building Shanghai (Yangtze River Delta) International Science and Technology Innovation Center was held in Shanghai. Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jining, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun, Jiangsu Party Secretary Xin Changxing, Zhejiang Party Secretary Wang Hao, and Anhui Party Secretary Liang Yanshun attended and delivered speeches. Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng presided over the meeting. Jiangsu Governor Liu Xiaotao, Zhejiang Governor Liu Jie, and Anhui Governor Wang Qingxian were also present.

Yin Hejun emphasized that we need to deeply study and understand General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and the strategic intent of the Party Central Committee,锚定 the goal of building a strong science and technology nation, focus on accelerating high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in science and technology and leading the development of new productive forces, strive for new breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation sourcing, high-end industry leadership, and top talent gathering, ensure a good start for the Shanghai (Yangtze River Delta) International Science and Technology Innovation Center, and build it into an important strategic pillar for a strong science and technology nation. The Ministry of Science and Technology will work with relevant departments and the three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta to jointly promote the high-level construction of the Shanghai (Yangtze River Delta) International Science and Technology Innovation Center.
